forum Visiting Fellow: Professor W.J.T. Mitchell 7 Jun 2015 The Stedelijk Museum and partener organizations are delighted to announce that Professor W.J.T. Mitchell has accepted our invitation to be the first Stedelijk Museum / RKD Visiting Fellow in Modern and Contemporary Art. Professor W.J.T. Mitchell will present his keynote lecture at the Stedelijk Museum on 7 June 2015, from 16:00 – 17:30, on the theme of madness in art. A second keynote lecture will be presented at the RKD on 10 June. Between the two events, Mitchell will be teaching a three-day seminar at the University of Amsterdam. The Stedelijk Museum / RKD Visiting Fellow in Modern and Contemporary Art is a new collaboration between Stedelijk Museum, the Netherlands Institute for Art History (RKD) and the University of Amsterdam. With the goal to inspire a wide community of students, professionals and art lovers, the initiative involves extending an invitation each year to a leading international scholar in the field of modern and contemporary art, to spend a week in Amsterdam and The Hague lecturing and teaching about his/her current research. Professor W.J.T. Mitchell is a renowned interdisciplinary scholar in the field of visual culture, literature and art history, and is affiliated at the University of Chicago as Professor of English and Art History.
